okinawa shorinryu mukenkai
our style
We study traditional Okinawan karate as taught by Akamine Hiroshi Sensei, president of the Okinawa Shorinryu Mukenkai.
Okinawan karate is a life activity. This art uses relaxation, structure, and muscle manipulation to generate dynamic movement and power. By concentrating on body dynamics, shorinryu develops body awareness, strength, range of motion, and functional endurance - which all promote fitness and health. Consistent practice develops practical self-defense skills but more importantly provides greater self-confidence and a path toward inner peace. A typical training session includes warm-ups, basic techniques, movement and application drills, and kata (patterns used to demonstrate technique).
